The trailer for James Bond- Spectre follows typical Hollywood action movie trailers narrative and techniques. By applying Todorov's theory of Equilibrium, it is clear that the equilibrium is James Bond in Mexico on a normal mission. The disequilibrium is clear when the seated man shouts "He's everywhere" at the 48th second of the trailer, the new equilibrium is not shown in the trailer this is critical to the movie trailer as it gives suspense to the target audience and gives a reason to watch the film. This is still critical although the typical action movie is where the Hero defeats the villain and the heroine is the prize for the hero, the audience would still have to watch the film for the resolution.

The trailer for Spectre uses many feature of Propp's character theory. James Bond, the main character, is a male hero who is very smart and strong, this is very stereotypical of Hollywood films as it is shown in many other action movies. Madeline, the main woman in Spectre, is used as a heroine which is the reward for the hero which again represents women as the bait and links to representation, this is also again stereotypical to Hollywood. The helper in this movie is Q who gives Bond information and gadgets in order to complete the mission, he also acts as the Donor. The antagonist in the movie could also like to my paragraph on representation where the villain is usually of a different ethnicity to the Hero and is usually part of a terrorist organisation.

The trailer for spectre is full with Barthes' Enigma and action codes. These are designed to draw the audience in and get them to watch the whole film for the resolution. The major enigma codes are when Bond enters the building where the Spectre meeting was held. There is alot of Action and enigma codes around the film, some of them are when Bond goes and hunt the Spectre organisation ad shoots his gun. This gives the audience the idea that this will be an action intense and packed movie!
